hate to say it, but that’s how I want to go. Just blink out while doing something I like. I don’t want to go out like almost all of my grandparents; years of declining health, creeping dementia, whatever. my paternal grandfather had Black Lung from working in coal mines, and the last couple years of his life left him feeble. My maternal grandmother had multiple bouts with cancer and amputations. my last remaining grandmother is 93 and she’s well along on the decline; and the sad part is she’s “with it” enough to know it. and it hurts her terribly to know her mind and body are falling apart.
I don’t necessarily want to die tomorrow, but whenever it comes, I just want it to be quick. I don’t fear death. I fear long, drawn-out pain.

That sucks. He had just tweeted something a few hours ago. Must have been a massive heart attack for him to go that fast.

You thought brexit was peak British irrationality, they may start a war with France until their royal name.

A war with France is a fitting way to remember the most influential German-Brit of this century.

I hear you, although I think I’d prefer to just go to bed one night and not wake up. Vital to dead.

sadly we don’t have that luxury. at best I hope I can work until I’m no longer useful, then have some easily-accessible way to Kevork myself shortly afterward.

Once I feel myself heading that way, I’m buying a Ducati, finding a concrete barrier and plowing into it at a buck twenty. Go out on my terms and in blaze of glory. I don’t want to be clinging to life for 10-20 years, fuck that noise.

I work at an assisted living facility as a server and that’s the most depressing part. I literally watch people on that slow decline to the point where they can’t even leave their bed or talk. I feed them essentially baby food and watch them be rolled back to their room.

Grew up watching that show. Alain Thicke is also originally from Kirkland Lake Ontario Canada, a small mining town about a 45 minute drive from where I live in Quebec.
